Design of the most recent refurbishments to Melbourne’s iconic Oxford Scholar Hotel. The Oxford Scholar Hotel was designed by Charles d’Ebro who was also responsible for Stonnington, the boom-style mansion in Malvern. The hotel, now nestled in the corner of Swanston Academic Building, mobilises exposed brickwork common of Queen Anne Revival.
A hotel has existed on this site since 1857, and it ceased operation when purchased by RMIT University in 1986 and is currently undergoing structural retrofit and renovation. During its life, the building has undergone several retrofits and structural additions.
