Scaffold Design

At CESCON, we understand the importance of proper support during the construction stage of projects. That’s why we offer design services for scaffolding and temporary propping to ensure the safety and stability of the worksite.

This project required design of scaffold for working loads as well as additional wind loads under the condition where a shade cloth was required to be attached to the scaffold. We carried out the structural design and provided relevant connection details and member specifications including pipe diameters and bracing details required for structural stability under all subsequent loads as per the relevant Australian Standards.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Scaffold design is an important aspect of construction, as it plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and stability of workers and the structure itself. In Australia, scaffolds must be designed to meet relevant Australian standards, such as AS/NZS 1170.1 and AS/NZA 1576.1, which set out the minimum requirements for scaffold design, construction, and use.
One of the key considerations in scaffold design is the loads that the scaffold will be subjected to. The loads must be considered in both the design and construction of the scaffold, to ensure that it is strong enough to support the workers and the loads that it will be subjected to. The loads must include not only the weight of the workers and materials, but also any additional loads that may be applied, such as wind loads.
When a shade cloth is used on a scaffold, wind loads must also be taken into account in the design of the scaffold. Wind loads can be substantial, especially in windy conditions, and must be considered to ensure the safety and stability of the scaffold. An experienced scaffold designer will take into account the type of shade cloth being used, as well as the wind conditions in the area, to ensure that the scaffold is designed to meet the relevant loads.

Working with an experienced scaffold designer can ensure that the scaffold is safe and stable, providing workers with a secure and safe working environment.
