CESCON carried out asset integrity inspections for BHP’s Olympic Dam site with a primary focus on the housing units. Due to the limited amount of time and the significant number of housing units to be inspected we used automated systems, customized to the specific project, to accurately capture all defects within each housing unit. The data was then analyzed, processed, and presented to BHP in a format that could easily be integrated into their personalized data management systems.

To streamline the inspection process, our systems grouped similar defects into the same categories. This helped ensure ease and consistency in the reporting phase, given the large volume of data being collected. The project presented several challenges, including strict time constraints and limited access to the site, which was still operational during the inspections.
