CESCON were contacted by the property managers for CALTAX Springvale to undertake a post accident, existing conditions assessment for a display board at the Caltex fuel station in Springvale. The display board had been hit by a vehicle leaving it deformed and dysfunctional.
Upon inspection, it was noted that the posts were damaged and needed replacement. Furthermore, the base plates and the non shrink grout bed also appeared to be compromised. CESCON requested a footing exposure to establish if the footings were structurally intact. We then carried out several design checks to confirm that the footings could be reused thus saving a major cost component on the part of our clients while ensuring a safe and structurally robust repair solution.
Post-accident structural inspections are an important step in ensuring the safety and stability of a property after a potential structural damage incident. These inspections aim to evaluate the extent of the damage and determine the necessary repairs to restore the structure to its original condition. During the inspection, the engineer or inspector will examine the affected areas and use specialized equipment to determine the extent of the damage. It is important for clients to understand the importance of these inspections as they play a critical role in ensuring the safety of the property and its occupants. By educating clients on the benefits of post-accident inspections, they can make informed decisions about the repair and maintenance of their property.
